What to Expect on a Saskatchewan Hunt with Widgeon Waterfowl

Upon your afternoon arrival, you’ll get settled into your room in the lodges where you will be met by one of our professional guides to make sure everyone is up to date on the plans. After this you will have dinner brought to you for your evening meal. After dinner you will get details for the next day's hunt.

The next morning, you’ll follow your guide to the hunting location, or meet your hunting party there if you wish to sleep a few minutes longer. We fully welcome help setting up the decoys from interested guests, but you are also welcome to just relax with a cup of coffee and a light snack while we set everything up.

We will target Canada geese, specklebelly geese, snow/blue geese and ducks on these hunts. After the hunt, you will return to the lodge where breakfast will be waiting and you can relax and get the afternoon hunt plans. If the morning hunt did not provide limits or very close to limits and we can legally hunt the afternoon for the species we need to fill limits on, your guide will then provide information on the afternoon hunt.

We will clean your birds and bring them to you for the freezer before you take off on the afternoon adventure.

FIREARM REQUIREMENTS

Only shotguns are allowed.

Please use the following link to review all details for this process http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/visit-visite-eng.htm

Firearm owner and users in Canada need a valid firearms license allowing them to possess firearms and a Canadian registration certificate for each firearm in their possession. A license issued under Canada’s Firearms Act.

Declare firearms in writing, in triplicate, using the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration (form CAFC 909). **FFO note…do NOT sign the form, as you must sign in front of a Canadian customs official.

If there are more than three firearms, a Non-Resident Firearm Declaration Continuation Sheet (form CAFC 910) should be added.

Once the declaration has been confirmed by the CBSA customs officer, it acts as a license for the owner and as a temporary registration certificate for the firearms brought to Canada.

A confirmed declaration costs a flat fee of $25, regardless of the number of firearms listed on it. It is valid only for the person who signs it and only for those firearms listed on the declaration.

AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS & RESTRICTIONS

A confirmed Non-Resident Firearm Declaration will allow you to buy ammunition in Canada. As well, you may bring limited amounts to Canada with you. **FFO note…limited means 200 shells.
